| Claim | Predicate | Summary | Status | Tier | Review | Sources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
claim:lucy-hanks:name:1 | name | Lucy Hanks The National Park Service profile of Nancy Hanks Lincoln names “Her mother Lucy” directly, and the Lucy Hanks (Henry Sparrow) research PDF — now cited instead of the reports index page alone (T-RES-005, S-20) — sets out the mtDNA argument for her parentage, with the documentary caveat that Joseph Hanks's will did not name her. Her dates rest on that PDF alone and are reconstructed; see her birth and death claims. | supported | 2 · official-transcript | accepted |

claim:lucy-hanks:birth:1 | birth | birth · 1762 The Lucy Hanks (Henry Sparrow) research PDF (tier 3) says only that “Lucy Hanks may have been born in 1762”. The National Park Service page the claim used to cite gives her no dates at all, which is why the claim stood at tier official-transcript without evidence for its value (T-RES-005 review, record errors R-9 and S-22); it is removed from the sources here and kept on her name and parentage claims, which that page does state. Downgraded to reconstructed at tier compiled-genealogy, with the hedged year as the only figure any source offers (question:hanks-branch:lifespans). | reconstructed | 3 · compiled-genealogy | downgraded |
|
claim:lucy-hanks:death:1 | death | death · between 1830 and 1840 The Lucy Hanks (Henry Sparrow) research PDF (tier 3) states “Lucy died between 1830 & 1840”, which denies the 1830 the record carried, and the National Park Service page the claim used to cite gives her no death date (T-RES-005 review, record error R-8). The event now reads between 1830 and 1840 and the claim is downgraded to reconstructed at tier compiled-genealogy (question:hanks-branch:lifespans). | reconstructed | 3 · compiled-genealogy | downgraded |

claim:lucy-hanks:parent-of:1 | parent-of | parent-of Nancy Hanks Lincoln The National Park Service's Nancy Hanks Lincoln profile identifies Lucy Hanks as Nancy's mother directly, and the Genetic Lincoln research PDF on Lucy sets out the mtDNA argument for the same descent. Held at supported rather than confirmed on the T-RES-005 reviewer's judgement: a single clause in a park-service biography is thin for the one claim that joins the Hanks and Lincoln records. The canvas relationship line for Lucy has been corrected from "maternal grandmother" to "Mother of Nancy Hanks Lincoln" (T-RES-005 review, record error R-11). | supported | 2 · official-transcript | accepted |

claim:lucy-hanks:associated-with:1 | associated-with | associated-with George Clooney (lead) The workbook cites a Lucy Hanks → Mary Ann “Polly” Sparrow connection for George Clooney; it is a research lead, not an asserted relationship, and Michael's own relationship remains conditional. The cited Wikipedia "Lincoln family" article reports only a kinship degree between Clooney and Abraham Lincoln and names no ancestor on that line, so it does not state the workbook's route; the Lucy Hanks research PDF names Lucy's daughter by Sparrow as "Mary Sparrow", never "Polly", and never mentions Clooney (T-RES-005 review, S-14 as amended). | conditional | 3 · compiled-genealogy | accepted |

Conflicts and open questions
Question
question:hanks-branch:lifespans(open)Which source states the birth and death years of Joseph Hanks, Ann Lee, William Hanks and Lucy Hanks? The T-RES-005 review found the only cited sources contradicting three recorded values and silent on three more: William's 1756 and 1834 (the research paper says born about 1765 and died after 1850), Ann Lee's 1784 (the widow Anne Hanks assigns land in January 1794), and Lucy's 1830 death (the research PDF says she died between 1830 and 1840); no source opened gives a birth year for Joseph or Ann Lee, so those years are no longer recorded, and Lucy's 1762 is hedged in its only source.
Next: For William, the Nelson County, Kentucky tax lists of 1787–1793 and the 1850 federal census of Macon County, Illinois, which the research paper cites but does not reproduce. For Ann Lee, the Nelson County deed of January 1794 signed by the widow Anne Hanks, and Joseph Hanks's probate file (will of 8 January 1793, executor's bond of 14 May 1793). For Lucy, the 1830 and 1840 federal censuses of Mercer and Adair counties, Kentucky, and the 1790 Mercer County marriage bond. Record a birth year for Joseph or Ann Lee only when a record or an institutional transcription states one; until then none of the withdrawn values may appear in the narrative in any form, with or without "about".
