claim:frank-george-decuir:name:1nameFrank George DeCuir

Supported, not confirmed: The Daily Iberian's obituary of 27 April 1933 (tier 2) is headed “FRANK G. DECUIR.” and his memorial gives “Frank George Decuir”; FamilySearch lists George Francois DeCuir with matching spouse, child and death date. The family's “Frank George” form remains preferred, and the compiled identity merge is not treated as a record proof. The obituary also names his parents, now entered as research leads (question:eugenie-decuir-mixon:parentage).

claim:frank-george-decuir:living-status:1living-statusdeceased

Stated directly by tier-2 evidence: The Daily Iberian printed his obituary on 27 April 1933, reporting his death on the Monday of that week.

confirmed2 · official-transcriptaccepted
claim:frank-george-decuir:birth:1birthbirth · September 15, 1880

The Daily Iberian's obituary of 27 April 1933 (tier 2) states “He was born, September 15, 1880”. His Find a Grave memorial gives 20 September 1879, a compiled field no record refutes, so the two readings sit in an open conflict and this claim stays supported. No place is recorded: the obituary names his parents as citizens of New Iberia but states no birthplace. The Louisiana birth index entry, or the Saint Peter's baptismal register, is the record check.

claim:frank-george-decuir:death:1deathdeath · April 24, 1933

The obituary of Thursday 27 April 1933 (tier 2) reports that death came to him on the Monday, which is 24 April 1933, and his memorial gives 24 Apr 1933 outright. No place is recorded: New Iberia is implied by the obituary's account and never stated. Supported, not confirmed: the day is fixed by reading the obituary together with a compiled field, and the Louisiana death index entry has not been read.

supported2 · official-transcriptaccepted
claim:frank-george-decuir:marriage:1marriagemarriage · April 16, 1903

His 1933 obituary (tier 2) states “He was united in marriage with Miss Louise Landry, April 16, 1903”, naming both parties and the date in one sentence. No place is recorded: New Iberia is implied, never stated. Supported, not confirmed: the Iberia Parish licence of April 1903 has not been opened; both memorials' “married 1904” is a year-only compiled field contradicted by the obituary and is recorded here as a source defect, not as a competing claim.

supported2 · official-transcriptaccepted
claim:frank-george-decuir:spouse-of:1spouse-ofspouse-of Louise Landry

Stated directly by tier-2 evidence: his 1933 obituary in The Daily Iberian names both parties in one sentence, “He was united in marriage with Miss Louise Landry, April 16, 1903”. Both memorials link them as spouses. Unlike their parenthood of Eugenie this needs no identity chain, and the workbook is no longer the only source; the Iberia Parish licence has not been opened.

confirmed2 · official-transcriptaccepted
claim:frank-george-decuir:parent-of:1parent-ofparent-of Eugenie DeCuir Mixon

Named by a tier-2 source through a married style: his 1933 obituary states that he and Louise Landry had “three daughters—Mrs. Verne Thibodeaux, Mrs. Tynes Mixon and Mrs. Arthur Rouse”. Identifying “Mrs. Tynes Mixon” as Eugenie takes a three-source chain — the 1950 census schedule records Tynes Mixon's wife as “Eugenia D.”, the shared tomb reads “EUGENIE D. MIXON” and F.G.'s obituary gives his mother as “Eugenie Decuir Mixon” — and her memorial links the same parents. Promoted from conditional to supported and held there, not confirmed: the promotion rule needs tier 1–2 evidence stating the relationship directly, and a married style plus an identity chain is not that. Eugenie's own birth or baptismal entry, naming both parents, is the record check (question:eugenie-decuir-mixon:parentage).

Conflicts and open questions

  • Conflict conflict:frank-george-decuir:birth-date (open)

Frank George DeCuir's birth is dated 15 September 1880 by his own obituary in The Daily Iberian of 27 April 1933 (tier 2, read from the public photographs of the page) and 20 September 1879 by his Find a Grave memorial's unsourced field (tier 3). The accepted claim carries September 15, 1880 at `supported`; the 1879 reading is held unaccepted (deferred, not refuted). The Louisiana birth index entry, or the Saint Peter's baptismal register, decides it.

    • claim:frank-george-decuir:birth:1 supported birth · September 15, 1880
  • Question question:eugenie-decuir-mixon:parentage (open)

Eugenie DeCuir Mixon's parentage is now named by a tier-2 source, but only through a married style: her father's obituary of 27 April 1933 names his and Louise Landry's three daughters, one of them “Mrs. Tynes Mixon”. What remains is Eugenie's own birth or baptismal entry naming both parents, that identification at certificate grade, and the Landry bridge: through which Landry is Nanette Landry a cousin of Michael's mother?

Next: Louisiana Secretary of State vital-records index (births more than 100 years old) for Decuir, Eugenie, 1908, and the Saint Peter's, New Iberia baptismal register (Diocese of Lafayette archives): either should name both parents and would take the parentage claims from supported to a direct statement. Then the Iberia Parish Clerk of Court's marriage licence of April 1903, which names both parties' parents, and the death index entries for Decuir, Louise, 1927 and Decuir, Frank, 1933 — the latter also settles the 1880-against-1879 birth-date conflict. For the Landry bridge: Louise Landry's memorial names her parents as Albert Landry (1850–1905) and Eugenie Comeaux Landry and her brothers Leon Joseph (1883–1959), Edmond Norbet (1886–1949) and Paul Tillhou (1888–1958), so a John Albert “Al” Landry would sit among those brothers' children; trace that deceased generation in the 1910 and 1920 census before treating Nanette as a cousin through the Landrys. No search is run for either living Landry.
